Description

This program is a community effort of a doctor, a lunch sponsor, the senior citizens and area businesses coming together for the good of all. We were checking to see if your company would be interested in serving the seniors for this program.
DINE WITH A DOC® is a FREE program that welcomes the local public to get to know the doctor(s) of the month while enjoying a free meal. Each doctor has graciously donated his/her time in an effort to listen, hear, and answer medical questions while sharing a meal with the public. Various community businesses also participate by donating door prizes or a complimentary breakfast or lunch for the public to enjoy. They also provide valuable information about their services and/or products that might be beneficial to their needs. One does NOT need to be a member of the establishment where the Dine with a Doc® in-services are held. Blood pressure and blood sugar screening is done (complimentary) at most Dine with a Doc™ ©events provided courtesy of local nursing home and/or home health care facilitiesThis program was designed to allow the seniors to get out of their homes, fellowship with their peers, extend their available financial resources, promote enhanced living, and educate them (from a preventative standpoint) with the goal of ensuring their quality of life and providing them with the resources and information to make an informed choice about their healthcare and hopefully select a physician who cares about them to make educational presentations such as these.A typical Dine with the Doc® consists of the following © format: (which can be modified to meet with Dr.'s schedule)· Welcome , Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance· Meal Served to Seniors· Mini commercials (area businesses that have pre-scheduled attendance at the program, present their information about their business and/or services to the seniors---THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SELL TO THEM, JUST GIVE INFORMATION FOR THEM TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION AT A LATER DATE. (They are allowed 3-5 minutes to speak to the seniors about their business in exchange for providing a door prize that the senior's could win) Door prizes can be simple and do not need to be extravagant in price. The Seniors just like the concept of winning something. So many seniors aren't aware of the businesses/services available to them in their own community!!!
· Mini commercials are interrupted when physician arrives and is ready to speak. Some physicians want to sit and eat as well, others don't. Some physicians have a formal presentation with a PowerPoint presentation, handouts, etc, some don't. It is solely up to each physician what they want to do for their presentation. Physician generally arrive about 30 minutes after start of program so that they aren't interrupted with food being served. Their presentation is anywhere from 30 minutes +.· After physician presentation, open for questions· Finish up of Mini-Commercials· Drawing for door prizesAt each of the Dine with a Doc® there is an agency that provides a wellness clinic which consists of blood pressure screenings and/or pulse oximetry, and/or blood glucose monitoring.
