Description

The Riverside Friends of the Library, have taken a new and innovative approach to both raising much needed funds for the library and spreading the word on energy efficiency.
As of June 1, 2011 the Riverside Friends of the Library will offer a selection of ENERGY STAR® qualified Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs) available for sale to the general public from a Lights for Learning kiosk. Lights for Learning is an education based outreach and fundraising program designed to empower the youth of today to become the ecologically minded citizens of tomorrow.
The proceeds from the sale of every bulb will go directly Friends for the Future Fund of the Riverside Public Library. The kiosk will also house the Lights for Learning informational materials on the overall Lights for Learning Program. ENERGY STAR Activity Books for children as well as ENERGY STAR home energy conservation and electronics information will also be available.
In addition to the sale of the CFLs and available resource information, a recycling bin for used CFLs will also be available. The CFLs will be recycled through a federally approved program.
