Description

Glide through the remote Maine woods by day and enjoy Lodge camaraderie at night in our third annual lodge-to-lodge ski adventure. In late February/early March we should have abundant snow for skiing, with warmer winter temperatures. We'll drive in to rustic West Branch Pond Camps in the 100 Mile Wilderness where we will spend the first 2 nights. We will continue our backcountry ski tour through AMC's Wilderness Lodge network, stopping at Little Lyford, and then to the southern end of the network, Gorman Chairback. Spending two nights in each location will allow us the opportunity to explore the many local trails as well as enjoy each lodge in a relaxed way without having to move every day. We'll arrange carpooling back to West Branch Pond Camps where we will pick up our cars. Our group will ski an average of 8+ miles per day on easy to moderate terrain. The cost of $770 includes all meals, trail lunches, wood stove heated cabins, and happy hour snacks and refreshments. The bathroom facilities vary from rustic to the hot showers, sauna, and composting toilets at Little Lyford Pond Camps. You can ski with a day pack and appropriate gear as all our supplies will be brought from camp to camp via snowmobile. You'll find the good company, the good food, and the exercise exactly what you've needed after a long winter. For more information call Leaders; register with registrar. This is an interchapter trip and all are invited to join! Carpooling will be facilitated. Optional nights before and/or after are available at your own arrangement. Registration is required for this activity.
